Exercise Namejs 2026 Tests VALIC’s Logistics Capabilities
The comprehensive state defence exercise “Namejs 2026”, held across Latvia from 2 September to 8 October, provided an opportunity for the National Armed Forces (NBS) and the State Centre for Defence Logistics and Procurement (VALIC) to test our ability to work together and ensure the timely delivery of essential supplies in different scenarios.
During the exercise, VALIC worked alongside the NBS to carry out practical logistics tasks, including distributing supplies and supporting troop movements. Participants also responded to a simulated attack on a convoy involving the NBS Logistics Command and VALIC, including managing several simulated casualties.
Another important part of the exercise focused on mobilisation. VALIC operated mobilisation centres where reservists received the equipment needed for service. These activities tested the ability to equip personnel quickly and efficiently when called up.
The exercise highlighted the importance of close cooperation between VALIC and the NBS. Effective communication, clear responsibilities and the ability to respond quickly to changing situations are essential to ensuring that military personnel receive the supplies and support they need.
Participation in “Namejs 2026” also provided VALIC with an opportunity to assess its processes, identify areas for improvement and strengthen its ability to support the armed forces in both peacetime and crisis situations. Such exercises help build a more reliable and responsive logistics system, ensuring that the right equipment and supplies reach military personnel when they need them.
“Namejs 2026” brought together active-duty military personnel, National Guard members, national defence service personnel, reservists and allied forces to practise cooperation and strengthen Latvia’s overall defence readiness.
