On Wednesday, 4 March, the Head of the State Defence Logistics and Procurement Centre (VALIC), Lieutenant Colonel Alans Andrulis, met with Colonel Perrine Thenoz, representative of the French Armament Directorate, who serves as Deputy Defence Attaché for Armaments in Warsaw and is responsible for cooperation with Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for cooperation between the Latvian and French defence sectors, with particular focus on industry collaboration and the potential for French companies to participate in defence procurement projects in Latvia. The French side expressed interest in taking part in procurements organised by VALIC, as well as in developing partnerships with Latvian companies.

Lieutenant Colonel Andrulis presented VALIC’s role within the defence sector and outlined its current development priorities, including the implementation of the supply and logistics reform and the expansion of the Centre’s functions. It was emphasised that the reform предусматривает the gradual development of centralised procurement and logistics functions, strengthening supply security and effective cooperation with industry.

Both sides agreed that closer cooperation between the defence industries of the two countries can make a significant contribution to strengthening supply chain resilience, as well as to advancing innovation and technological development in the defence sector.
