On Monday, 13 April 2026, the Head of the State Defence Logistics and Procurement Centre (VALIC), Lieutenant Colonel Alans Andrulis, met with Brigadier General Jonas Lotsne, Head of the Army Systems Division of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration.

During the meeting, Andrulis presented VALIC’s tasks, development priorities, and its role in implementing the supply and logistics reform, with emphasis on modernising the defence materiel system and improving resource management. He also provided an overview of cooperation with the defence industry and its importance in strengthening the capabilities of the National Armed Forces.

The discussion also focused on shared challenges related to organising military sustainment. Brigadier General Lotsne noted that, despite differences in the scale of countries and organisations, the core challenges remain similar - ensuring the continuous availability of equipment required for operational needs and strengthening the security of supply chains.

The Swedish side expressed interest in developing closer cooperation with countries in the Baltic Sea region in the fields of defence industry and procurement, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation in the context of shared security challenges.

The meeting also addressed both countries’ support to Ukraine, recognising it as one of the key priorities in strengthening regional security.
